A World of Beauty, Told Through Old Pages — Exhibition of Sun Yat-sen Documents from Libraries in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao
Dr Sun Yat-sen was a pioneer of China's democratic revolution, whose revolutionary course was inextricably bound to Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. He wrote tirelessly throughout his life. From the earnest appeal for reform in his Letter to Li Hung Chang, to the grand blueprint of the Plans for National Reconstruction, and finally to the heartfelt message delivered in his will, these documents were more than just declarations to the old world, they were also testaments to his open-minded approach towards building a new China.
This year marks the 160th anniversary of the birthday of Dr Sun. The Sun Yat-sen Library of Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong Public Libraries, the Macao Public Library and the Macau University of Science and Technology Library jointly organise the thematic exhibition " A World of Beauty, Told Through Old Pages — Exhibition of Sun Yat-sen Documents from Libraries in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao", bringing together precious materials from the three places covering different periods of his life, such as historical documents, photographs, renowned publications, research findings and commemorative works.
The modernisation blueprint set out by Dr Sun has already taken root in the land of China. Let’s be inspired by the perseverance of Dr Sun, pass on his indomitable spirit, and work together towards the full reunification and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in the new era.
This exhibition is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has long been promoting Chinese history and culture through organizing an array of programmes and activities to enable the public to learn more about the broad and profound Chinese culture.
